David Tomlinson Trail

Town of Aurora

Fiberwalk Inc. collaborated with the Town of Aurora and the project consultant to design two custom boardwalks and a lookout deck, using Fiberwalk Panels, as part of the David Tomlinson Trail network. These 10-foot (3-meter) wide structures, measuring 265 feet (81 meters) and 180 feet (55 meters) respectively, help navigate wet areas and stream crossings along the trail.

The design includes various lookout points, custom railing connections, and custom-designed panels to accommodate turns. A highlight of one boardwalk is a 20-foot (6-meter) clear-span panel that provides a wider gap beneath the structure, allowing a significant stream to flow through the forest with minimal impact on natural drainage patterns, while bringing users through the heart of the woods.

This 20ft spanning panel was installed with the same methods and support systems as the rest of the boardwalks, including the same railing and decking, making the transition seamless and unrecognizable to pedestrians. Notably, the 265-foot (81-meter) boardwalk, along with all panels and lookouts, was installed in just two working days, showcasing Fiberwalk’s efficiency in installation and precision in fabrication.
